Mother’s Day gives the church an opportunity to thank God for the women whose faith, prayer, wisdom, and love have helped shape our families and our spiritual lives.

Throughout Scripture, women are shown serving God with courage, compassion, perseverance, hospitality, prayer, and trust. Their examples remind us that faithful influence often begins in the ordinary moments of daily life.

A mother may teach a child to pray, read Scripture at the kitchen table, offer wise correction, comfort a hurting family member, or quietly intercede when no one else sees. These acts may appear small, but God can use them to shape a life for generations.

The Bible also shows that spiritual influence is not limited to biological motherhood. Grandmothers, mentors, teachers, ministry leaders, caregivers, and faithful women can help nurture belief, encourage obedience, and point others toward Christ.

On this Mother’s Day, Estacada Assembly of God celebrates every woman who has planted seeds of faith, prayed with perseverance, served with humility, and demonstrated the love of Jesus.

We also recognize that Mother’s Day can be difficult for some. May the church respond with grace, compassion, and sensitivity toward those carrying grief, loss, disappointment, or a painful family story.

“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.”

A Faith Passed from Generation to Generation

In his second letter to Timothy, the apostle Paul remembers the sincere faith that first lived in Timothy’s grandmother Lois and his mother Eunice. Their example shows the lasting spiritual influence that can be passed from one generation to another.

Lois and Eunice could not make Timothy’s decision of faith for him, but they could teach, model, pray, and create a foundation upon which his own faith could grow.

In the same way, mothers and women of faith today help shape the spiritual atmosphere of homes, classrooms, ministries, and relationships. Their consistency can teach children that prayer matters, Scripture is trustworthy, worship is essential, and following Christ is worth every sacrifice.

A godly legacy is not built through perfection. It is built through faithfulness, repentance, prayer, grace, and a steady dependence on God.

The Ministry of a Godly Mother

Teaching

Planting God’s Word

A mother helps plant biblical truth through Scripture, prayer, correction, conversation, and the example of a life submitted to Christ.

Prayer

Interceding with Faith

Faithful prayer places children, families, and difficult circumstances into the hands of God, trusting Him to guide, protect, convict, and restore.

Example

Living What She Believes

Children and others learn not only through words, but by watching how a woman responds to hardship, forgiveness, responsibility, worship, and service.

Strength and Dignity

Proverbs 31 Biblical Strength Is Rooted in the Fear of the Lord

The woman described in Proverbs 31 is remembered not simply for her accomplishments, but for her wisdom, diligence, generosity, strength, and reverence for God.

Biblical strength does not mean never feeling tired, discouraged, or afraid. It means continuing to trust God, seek wisdom, speak truth, extend compassion, and remain faithful through changing seasons.

A woman who fears the Lord understands that her deepest identity is not found in public praise, outward appearance, or perfect performance. Her life is anchored in belonging to God.

  • She seeks wisdom from God’s Word
  • She prays for her family and others
  • She speaks with grace and truth
  • She serves without needing recognition
  • She trusts God in uncertain seasons
  • She demonstrates courage and compassion
  • She teaches through both words and example
  • She recognizes her dependence on the Lord

Women Who Nurture Faith

Grandmothers Passing down faith, wisdom, prayer, and family testimony
Mentors Helping younger women grow in biblical wisdom and maturity
Teachers Planting Scripture in the hearts of children and students
Caregivers Reflecting the compassion and patience of Christ through service

Titus 2 describes older women teaching what is good and helping younger women grow in wisdom and godly character. This kind of spiritual mentorship remains essential in the church today.

Women who pray, listen, teach, encourage, correct with gentleness, and walk faithfully beside others participate in the work of discipleship. Their influence may not always be public, but it can have eternal significance.

A Prayer for Mothers and Women of Faith

Lord, Strengthen Every Woman Who Serves You

Heavenly Father, thank You for the mothers, grandmothers, mentors, teachers, caregivers, and women of faith You have placed in our families and church.

Give them wisdom for every decision, patience for every responsibility, courage in every trial, and peace in every uncertain season.

Strengthen those who are weary. Comfort those who are grieving. Encourage those who feel unseen, and remind them that their faithful prayers, loving service, and godly example have eternal value.

Help every woman lead with grace, speak with wisdom, serve with humility, and trust You with confidence. May her life point her family, her church, and those around her toward Jesus Christ. Amen.

Closing Scripture
“Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.”
Proverbs 31:28

Today, we thank God for every mother and woman of faith whose prayers, love, sacrifice, biblical instruction, and Christlike example continue shaping lives. May the Lord strengthen you, encourage you, and remind you that your faithfulness matters both now and for generations to come.
